Finished up my current project of 5 more of my Blood Axe storm boys.
That now means I have 15 out of 20 of the unit completely finished. For a project I considered very much back-burner, with a unit that I have no plans on playing with the current book, it's strange that it's almost done.
Anyway, pics!
And a group pic. I have to say these guys look just amazing, and are so easy to do on top of it!
I also noticed I hit 100 followers on the blog! that's fucking amazing, thank you all for the interest in my hobby!
A blog dedicated to my Warhammer 40k Ork army, as well as my other endevours: Dark Angels, Tau, and Orcs & Goblins. Modeling, converting, gaming, tactics and more!

Where the hell are the posts?!?! - and more Star Trek Attack Wing!
I just realized it's been over 2 weeks since my last post!
What have I been doing? Well, spending money mostly. It's called Taxmas! I have a new camera set up, which will be really nice once I get normal work hours again. I have not played a game of 40k since the end of November!!! I'm getting pretty ichy too, I miss it..
I have, however, been playing a LOT of Star Trek Attack Wing. I've played in many OP events, and won several prize ships. I have 1 or 2 more this week, depending on how things go. I have not actually won any events, but usually end up in 2nd or 3rd. I really want to win the OP4 this week at Time Vault so I can get a good shot at DS9.
I even ran one OP2 event, and took a few pics along the way:
I have also been doing some hobby, priming up the Trukk and Buggy, painting Stormboyz (which are just about done..pics soon!) and staring in on another 7 Imperial Fist bikes for commission.
I also said goodbye to all my Gorkamorka trukks on ebay. Not like it was a sad parting, netting me nearly $100 which was more then enough to pickup 3 more new trukks!
So anyway that's what's up. First thing will be the bikes, then probably working on another terrain piece for IDICBeer's March contest. Then finally getting around to painting the buggy and trukk...in Blood Axe colors of course! I might even come up with a new, 3rd camo color combo for the vehicles...
..oh, and the hangar needs paint..

First Ork Trukk build
I built the first of my "new" model Trukks (new, as in they are a mere 6 years old). Of course, I could not just build it stock! I didn't do a whole lot with this first one, doing some modification to the bed and adding some armor to the cab. Oh, and putting the boarding planks on the back as an assault ramp.
I have a lot of ideas on what to do with the rest, but all the trukks I build will be custom and unique.
I need to wait a few days for the weather to calm down to get any priming done, and I have a lot of it to do: the trukk, the buggy, some stormboys and the hangar!
Until next time!

Another build project: Buggy conversion
I got this model off ebay a very long time ago, and finally decided to break down and build a buggy with it. Yes, I still think buggies are the worst unit in the codex. No, I probably won't play it. However I love making buggies as the possibilities are endless.
The base model is a Badger from Ramshackle Games. It retails for £13 so it's a decently priced model. The resin is very hard and brittle, which made it very hard to work with. Even broke a drill bit trying to pin it together..
I have the options of either rokkits or big shootas, and I'm really happy with how it came out.
I used green stuff to try and simulate welds on the different panels, with mixed results. Mostly due to not being able to reach inside to get it just how I wanted it. I also really need a set of silicone sculpting tools..
Lastly I have listed all my Gorkamorka trukks on ebay with the goal of replacing them with the new model. I like them, but I simply can't use them in any real fashion. It's been 6 years, I guess it's time to upgrade the fleet.
Anyway, pics!

"zero-cost" scratch built Thunderfire Cannon project complete!
Finally finished up my Thunderfire Cannon.
As I expected, it didn't take long to paint due to being mostly drybrushed. I did see that the model on the GW website had a black barrel, so I copied it.
Came out exactly as I wanted. Anyway enough gab, pic!

Dakkajet hangar build complete!
I actually finished this a while ago, but didn't take any pics until tonight.
Finished the ground and the 2nd door. It's freaking awesome. Paint will come after the Thunderfire is done.
Not much to say, so ..pics!

More on the Ork Dakkajet hangar..doors and floor.
Quick update, but quite a bit of work. I spent a lot of time trying to
figure out what to do for a floor as I didn't just want a wood floor. I
was looking at some patterned plasticard but at $11 for enough to do
it, I couldn't justify it.
I wanted a concrete look, so I went with the next best option..plaster of paris. I did a poor just as if I was doing a real concrete floor. I made the plaster a bit wattery to make it easier to spread out, but that ended up causing the water damage to the sides. Which makes it look better, actually. Lesson learned! Despite that, I *LOVE* how it came out.
The other stumbling block was the front door. I was going over many ideas in my mind, and looking at pics of real doors online. A lot of hangars have doors that slide open side-to-side, but that requires large brackets that sit outside the silhouette of the building, and thus would be highly impracticable for this terrain piece.
So after sitting for 4 days, I was driving around and the solution hit me..and after dropping everything and working on it last night the the result is absolutely perfect. A functional door that folds out of the way completely so I can still get the Dakkajet inside, yet does not leave the footprint of the base of the piece. And it looks awesome.
So now I'm really, really close to done. Just have to build the second door, finish off the ground work around the building, and seal up the edges of the foamcore.
More to come!!

Ya it's kinda boring in the pic, but AWESOME in person! |
