Holy crap I won!

My Furioso won the painting contest at my FLGS! I'm so freaking stoked! Talk about a motivator!

If I wasn't so tired I would probably be jumping for joy lol.

Well now to sit and cross my fingers to see how the Vendetta does.

Never stop painting..

Sunday: Finish big project Vendetta
Monday: clean mold lines
Tuesday: Jump back into painting orks!

That didn't take long. With a lack of urgent projects I'm finishing up the models for the July challenge on the freeboota forums and diving back into the last 8 models of my revamped slugga squad.

A long time ago I did a nob, and never got around to matching him to a squad.

I really like this color scheme and a full mob will go quite nicely with what I have. I currently have 3 full squads of 30 (1 shoota, 2 sluggas) so this will be the start of my 4th. In addition, I have a 12-strong squad for a dedicated trukk boys and 30 'ard boys all with a mix of optional heavy weapons.

After I finish these 4, possibly 8 sluggas for the revamped squad, I have 10 shootas and a rokkit that will go with this nob.

It's been a long month.

This is the last time I enter 2 painting contests in the same month. I've really been pushing myself to get both the furioso and Valkyrie done to a decent quality in the time allotted. I'm beat.

But now it's time to finalize getting ready for OFCC. Ordo Fanaticus Club Challenge is one of the most popular tournaments in the Pacific Northwest, and probably the most important! It is all about bragging rights and sportsmanship, a team event were 30+ teams of 4 battle for fun. This year, just my 2nd year, I am a team captain. I've been helping my cousin get ready, that is why I did the manticore and vendetta, and will probably do more.

Furioso Drednaught

Not quite done in these pictures, but real close. The decals and clear coat is not done yet in them, but are done now.

Based on the Ironclad kit, the left hand is from a Black Reach dred with the talons being carved out of square plastic rod. The former H-K housing is the Magna-Grapple. I still have the banner to finish, but I have a more pressing project now.

June game 3

1750pts Blood Angels vs Sisters of Battle

Well a lot of things went very well for me this game. I made a bunch of cover saves on my vehicles, and my opponent shot a lot, hit a lot but failed a lot on his armor pen rolls.

In the end however, despite taking him down to nothing but 6 sisters and and immobilized rhino, it was a tie. I simply over committed to his objective, and failed to support & defend my objective leaving the door open for the rhino coming in from reserve to make a play for it. It turned out to be a lot easier to clear his deployment zone then I thought it would be and that was my downfall.

I don't think I could have done much different.

More Vendetta

yay for another card reader. Furioso approaching completion as well.

I got a new airbrush last night, a Harbor Freight compressor and airbrush kit. It's not a bad setup, with a dual-action airbrush, not some cheap plastic single action. No tank on the compressor but the whole kit was only $80.

I had to spend a few adjusting and tightening the brush to get it to atomize. The compressor is pretty quiet actually. The instructions says the pressure is adjustable but I have not figured out how to yet, the instructions are not very good.

I have not put paint through it yet, I spent most of my time tonight learning how to take it apart and put it back together and just spraying water through it to get use to the feel. It seems to me it won't take long to really use it well.

Next step is to figure out where to order replacement parts.

Overall I'm almost giddy! lol  I think for $80 the compressor alone is worth the price and should be a good kit to learn the ins and outs of airbrushing.

I plan on doing review videos as I start using it. Look out for those!

League game

1750pts Blood Angels vs IG

Not a lot I can say about this game. It was just a question of me trying to weather the fire and see how many saves I could make.

I think I spent too much time trying to do damage. I should have used my assault squad deep striking to clean my objective instead of trying to melta all his vehicles. If I had jumped down closer to my my objective and gone after the hellhound squadron instead of the russ squadron I think I would have been a lot better off.

Not only would I have been in a better position to take my objective but the threat would have shifted and I probably would not have had to endure the hellhounds shooting at my devastators and combat squad sitting there. But I'm not sure my opponent would have done anything different so it's pure speculation.
