My Top 5 X-Wing abilities I want to see in Star Trek: Attack Wing

Time for another STAW top 5!

I did play X-Wing for a while, but just could not keep up financially with yet another game so I sold everything off.  However there are a lot of cool abilities that would translate well to Attack Wing, either on a ship, captain or Elite Talent.

Honerable mention goes to: Veteran Instincts, Mangler cannon.

Anyway off to the list:

5: Pure Sabacc
This is a great ship ability, especially on a smaller ship in the 3-4 hull range.  Would be great on something like a Maquis Raider for example.

4: The Inquisitor

This is more of a captain ability then anything else, but it's another way to get +1 attack die for free.  Also could be ruled to get around the range 2 limit on Borg.

3: Bodhi Rook
A new card for X-Wing but would be a good crew ability, being able to toss around a target lock when out of position is a cool but not over powered ability.

2. Push the Limit

Yes, this ability is already in STAW with the Hathaway, but it's such a good ability it needs to be an Elite Talent so anyone can use it.  In fact, whenever I do it playing the Hathaway, I even say "push the limit"!

1: Keyan Farlander

While this a decent ability in X-Wing, it could be potentially game-breaking in Attack Wing.  Definitely a captain skill to keep it unique.  However the potential to give some ability to those wallowing Cardasian ships with red turns, or getting an effective battlestation on a k-turn, the possibilities are endless.

Iron Angels at a tournament - Fist of Medusa Strike Force.

Didn't take any pictures today but I went to a 1 day 3 round ITC tournament.  I busted out my second Stormtalon in just one day to get ready.

These 2 things happened:

1. I rolled Veil of Time in every game
2. I went first in every game

Despite that I only went 1-2.

Game 1 vs War Convocation  (scouring)

Pretty straitforward war con list with lots of grav.  after seizing on a 5 because of the knight, rolled up veil and started chomping through the army.  Took the knight down with a combination of drop pod melta and Stormtalons.   Didn't get warlord, but 10-1 win.

Game 2 vs Tau (killpoints)

This was killpoints and he just didn't have that many to give up with a lot of points in a single unit of Ghostkeels and a Stormsurge.

This time I seized on a 4 due to the superheavy and rolling +1 to seize warlord trait.

It took about 4 turns to kill everything I had except the deathstar and in that time I was able to take out the Ghostkeels and 1 Riptide.  He made a bunch of 4+ invuls on the Stormsurge vs grav though for sure.  Ended up running away from me and hiding while getting good malestrom rolls.  Tied on secondary, and I got king of the kill resulting in a 3-7 loss

Game 3 vs Gladius + summoning (emperor's will)

Last game I was getting tired but played it out. He used a librarius conclave to summon a heap of deamons.   He let me go first after bunching up Rhinos in the middle.  The deamons didn't do anything and was used mostly to block movement.  After the first turn he started to split up the transports effectively.  As time was running out the game came down to killing the last 2 regular bikes on my objective while my deathstar held his.  The result was a tie on primary, he took secondary and we both had linebreaker.  Another 3-7 loss.

I'm pretty happy with how everything worked. Considering these were just games #2-4 with the list I still have a lot to figure out, mainly how to deal with more MSU armies. I think concentrating the death star on one flank and literally everything else on another will be something I need to try.

as a refresher my list was:

Fist of Medusa Strike Force

Core: Battle Demi-Company
Captain: Bike, Artificer armor, Gorgon's Chain, Power fist
Command Squad: Bikes, 4x Storm Shields, Apothecary, 3 power weapons, Thunderhammer, 3 meltabombs
Tactical Squadx5: Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod
Tactical Squadx5: Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod
Tactical Squadx5: Grav Cannon, combi-grav, Rhino
Devastator Squad: 2x Grav Cannon
Bike Squad x4: 2x Grav gun, combi-grav

Command: Librarius Conclave
3x Level 2 Librarian, bikes, 1 with Mindforge Stave

Aux: Raptor Wing
2x Storm Talons, TL Lascannon
Land Speeder, MM, Typhoon Missile

My top 5 ships we need in Star Trek: Attack Wing

I haven't posted much about Attack Wing but I'm as passionate about it as ever.

Wizkids has postponed most of the new releases and are currently putting out repaints. Which is fine because most of what is being re-released was hard to get for new players.

But anyway, here is my top 5 ships we NEED in Attack Wing.

5. Husnock ship

"With a single thought, Kevin Uxbridge killed the entire Husnock Race (50 billion lives) everywhere in the universe.  Their powerful ships remain."
This is an interesting one because there can't be any crew or captain cards to go with it as the entire race is dead.  But it could be very powerful addition to the independent faction along the lines of the Prometheus or the Scimitar.

4. Tamarian Vessel

The Tamarian vessel with toe-to-toe with the Enterprise D. It should be a very powerful ship and WizKids (well, a proper writer anyway) could have a lot of fun with it putting all the cards in Tamarian.  Another good ship for the Independent faction....or maybe a big release with enough cards for a new faction!!!

3. Alternate Enterprise-D (Yesterday's Enterprise)

This time we move to the Mirror Universe faction and the Enterprise-D from Yesterday's Enterprise.  This should be a much more heavily armed version of the ship, modified for all-out war with the Klingons.  Also have some bad-ass MU faction cards like a killer Picard so that faction can try and catch up.  I should add that this ship IS coming out, as part of an OP event..but it needs to be a retail ship.

2. U.S.S. Enterprise-C

This won't be the most powerful ship in the game, being it's a 20-year old design but it's something fans desperately want.  Also many more cool cards could be made.  The only ship on this list for Federation faction as well.

1. Future Enterprise-D Galaxy-X Class

This is is. This has to be the most powerful ship in the game.  A cloaking device and the phase cannon would put the PWV above anything else..maybe an 8. However adding a new mechanic..such as a 45 degree arc just for the cannon would be quite intriguing.

That's it. I know some people would like 1 and 2 switched, but this is MY list after all ;)

Lighted power generator terrain piece.

To finish off the surprisingly post-heavy October, I have one more bit of work that is all built  and should be getting paint soon.

Came about from a contest/challenge on youtube, using what you had lying around. Based on candy containers and using a lot of left overs from the Helicarrier, I built a power generator kinda from Empire Strikes Back with some LED's.

Not much else to say, here it is:

..and a blurry pick to show off the lighting.

That's it for October, pretty busy around here with an AoS tourny and two Attack Wing OP's under my belt, plus all the Blood Angels I worked on.

Still saving for the Stormtalon, I'm hoping my Dropzone Commander auction will pay for it though.

Quick take: Star Trek Attack Wing collection

A few other people did it on facebook so I decided to get out everything and snap a pic. It was also a good way to make sure I have not lost anything.

No Dominion anywhere to be found..

Not many updates this month. I'm working on the last 10 Orc boys with hand weapon/shield. It's one of those projects that's been in the bottom of a tub yet always nagging me.  Once these guys are done the only O&C model I'll have left to paint is a Grimgor.

That's it! Until next time..

I won the Star Trek Attack Wing Portland regional!

Loot from the tournament today at Rose City Comic Con - Borg Assimilation cube and a DS9 model, plus a GenKhan card and the cloaked ships from GenCon, plus extra set of DS9 crew cards.

Quite the haul. It was awesome!

Where the hell are the posts?!?! - and more Star Trek Attack Wing!

I just realized it's been over 2 weeks since my last post!

What have I been doing? Well, spending money mostly. It's called Taxmas!  I have a new camera set up, which will be really nice once I get normal work hours again. I have not played a game of 40k since the end of November!!! I'm getting pretty ichy too, I miss it..

I have, however, been playing a LOT of Star Trek Attack Wing.  I've played in many OP events, and won several prize ships.   I have 1 or 2 more this week, depending on how things go.  I have not actually won any events, but usually end up in 2nd or 3rd. I really want to win the OP4 this week at Time Vault so I can get a good shot at DS9.

I even ran one OP2 event, and took a few pics along the way:

I have also been doing some hobby, priming up the Trukk and Buggy, painting Stormboyz (which are just about done..pics soon!) and staring in on another 7 Imperial Fist bikes for commission.

I also said goodbye to all my Gorkamorka trukks on ebay.  Not like it was a sad parting, netting me nearly $100 which was more then enough to pickup 3 more new trukks!

So anyway that's what's up.  First thing will be the bikes, then probably working on another terrain piece for IDICBeer's March contest. Then finally getting around to painting the buggy and trukk...in Blood Axe colors of course! I might even come up with a new, 3rd camo color combo for the vehicles...

..oh, and the hangar needs paint..

I can't get enough Star Trek Attack Wing.

So instead of going to bed, I've been up for the last hour or so watching Star Trek videos.  Not much to post about, still banging out the commissions for now.

All I have to say is I can't wait for the U.S.S. Defiant to come out for Star Trek Attack Wing. I don't care what I have to go without to buy it.

Same goes for the Future Enterprise from All Good Things..

I still plan on playing in the Dominion War event at my FLGS and they have some really cool prizes for the first 3 events (Feregi ship, Ba'Rel class bird of prey, and Nebula Class). I doubt I'll win one, and playing the same scenario 3 times in a day does not sound like much fun but I'll give it a go.

I plan on taking a Klingon fleet.  Cloaks are just too awesome, and you know at least 1 ship will have the advance weapon system :)

There is so much awesomeness in the Star Trek universe the possibilities for the game are insane.

Very much looking forward to future waves.

Star Trek Attack Wing U.S.S. Enterprise-D complete!

Finished painting the Enterprise-D tonight. The color is Vallejo model color medium sea grey. I think it's perfect. I then went and did the lifeboats in yellow, engines and Bussard collectors.  Then it got a good coat of Dul-Cote for durability. It was a lot of work, it's not perfect, but I think it looks great!

I also picked up another ship.

Time to hit the commissions.

Massive hobby update!

After dropping off my daughter at her first day of 2nd grade, I grabbed the airbrush for a nice, long session. Last night I also finished the base and pilot for the Dakkajet.

It's off to a great start. Finishing it will be quite easy.

I also got paint and primer on the ME-262 diorama project. The plane got it's base colors..but not much in the camo patter that's on the box..but I love the colors.  I then primed the Kubelwagon, primed and based the figures in Luftwaffe blue.

Lastly, primer on the Enterprise-D

That's 3 different projects worked on today. I plan on finishing the Enterprise tonight.

Star Trek Attack Wing!!

A lot of people play and love the X-Wing miniatures battle game, but I was only mildly interested.  When I heard a few months ago that WizKids had licensed the game system and was doing a Star Trek version, I knew I wanted to wait for that.

Well it's finally out, and even though I don't have the cash, my cousin bought it and we threw down a couple games tonight.

He even bought the Reliant and the Original Enterprise..and we played a game of Star Trek II! It was fucking awesome!  The felt the store had even looks like the Multara Nebula lol. holy amazeballs!

I'm hoping for an Enterprise -C as a future release so I can play the battle of Narendra III and an Excelsior so I can play the battle of Khittomer!  Ya, I'm that fucking nerdy.

Oh, how about an M5 card and a bunch of Constitution class ships!  Or an early Warbird and play Balance of Terror!  holy amazeballs!

Anyway, video. Enjoy. It's not HD, camera was set wrong. Sorry.
