Bad Moonz repaints and re-basing

I finished the Shootaboyz tonight and man that got tedious near the end. I had to force myself to finish!  But after a shot of Dul-Cote I'm quite happy.

So I've now refurbished and re-based all my Lootas and 2 units of Shootaboyz.  I don't have any plans to re-paint anything else as a new Kulture and since I only play one I don't think it's much of an issue.  Of the models I have in my current list the Gorkanaut, the mek gunz and the planes have clan paint jobs that aren't Bad Moonz.

The other lootas and shootaboyz are not klan specific.

On a side note these Boyz use to be slugga boyz but were converted to shootas in October 2012.

Kustom loota Flashgitz

A long time ago I had an idea to make my own Flashgitz because I simply don't like the pirate aesthetic of the GW kit.  I had no idea what to use for weapons until I decided to use up all the extra heavy bolters I had from all the devastator kits I bought. So I bought a box of Nobz and gave it a shot.

After much trial I finished the first one and loved how it turned out.

But moving on to the 2nd one I realized I could use other weapons as well.  Multi-melta, plasma cannon, etc.  This makes each one much more unique.

I'm pretty darn happy with how they turned out.  They will be painted up in a simple non-klan specific scheme similar to a majority of my army.

The heads are Steampunk orc heads from Spellcrow.

Looted Viper Deffkilla wartrike, build complete.

I'm going to call this build done.  Can't see much of the Viper but it's there!  Still have to figure out a base as GW does not sell the 150mm base separately yet.  There are some acrylic/MDF on eBay so I'll probably order one after the holiday.

It's going to be Evil Sunz to match the Mek on Jetbike I made.

Really happy with the Warboss conversion from the Reaper Bones model.  He's magnetized and I plan on making a 40mm base for him to be on foot if I want.

Ravenwing Talonmaster conversion.

One of the new units in the DA codex is the Ravenwing Talonmaster.

It gives re-rolls of 1 to wound to ravenwing units, has a power sword (and thus can get the relic) and has a ton of shooting. Not a bad unit.

I had the twin weapons from a ravenwing sprue and the rest is from the Ravenwing command box. Very easy yet rewarding conversion!

Still working on DA, will get to the Kommandos soon.

Showcase: Ork Rat Rod Trukk

Finished this up, didn't take long.  Very happy with it!

Not much to say.  Off to the next one!

Ork Rat Rod Trukk

It's been a long time. Seems like I've been painting Dark Angels forever, but in reality it's only been 4 months.  I finished the UFO's and now to the next project.

I bought this Trukk used back many moons for just $16, and it's been sitting forever. Not only because of the DA but I didn't know what to do.  Well it hit me a couple days ago what to do - Rat Rod!!

Google it if you don't know what that is :)

I started by tearing it apart, luckily it was put together with superglue not plastic glue.  It didn't take long to figure out the suspension.  Mostly it just takes cutting off the leaf springs from the frame and inverting the axles. I also realized the cab is designed to have the driver on either side, so for something different I went right-hand drive.

I really LOVE how it came out, absolute perfect representation of a Rat Rod.  It will painted just like the UFO's, very rusty - true to the namesake.

Off to the paintbooth!

Getting back into hobby time..Bad Moonz Tankbustas

Surgery, 2 days in hospital, 2 more days in bed doped up on Oxycontin, and now finally enough energy to sorta return to normal.

Started these guys before I went under the knife, and was able to finish them over the last 2 days.  12 tankbustas which will be Bad Moonz to go along with my Bad Moonz Trukk.

I only had 3 "normal" rokkets so I had to build the rest. I used mostly the combi-rokket bits from the Meganobz kitz, along with some of the kombi-rokkets from the plastic nobs.  And built a few with pistols.

Pretty darn happy with them, I'll slowly start painting over the next few days...energy still isn't 100% and I have to get back to work.

Nurgle Rhino build complete.

Finished the 2nd session of greenstuff and I'm even more happy with the results.

Going to get painting on this asap.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite models.

Chaos Rhino partial scratch build #1

This is how you define "more time then money".

I've been wanting a Chaos Rhino to go along with the DV marines I just finished, but I'm saving all I can right now because I'm going to lose some work due to surgery next month.

Anyway I remembered I had the rhino sides and tracks in my bits box. Don't remember where I got them though lol.

Since I'm doing a Nurgle Rhino anyway, and it's going to get some bits and GS work, and I had some plastic sheets already, I figured I could just build the missing top and bottom.

After a 2nd day of work the basic Rhino shape is done, and I've started to "Chaos-ify" it.  Using bits left over from a few sprues that were given to me, I was able to make good progress.

So in a couple days I'll get to some GS work.  we'll see how it goes.

Plastic Painboy on bike conversion.

This model wasn't made to fit on a bike, and I had to hack off the legs and apron to get it to fit.

I still need to do some greenstuff work but it fits and looks great.

I turned the right arm a bit to clear the guns, and the rest of the model is untouched.

30 Warbikes. All with FNP.  *evil laugh*

Showcase: Ork-Summoned Bloodthirster

It's been sitting around a while, but I finally finished my Bloodthirster.

The models is a Reaper Bones deamon, and I think it works pretty darn well.  The idea is that it was summoned through the Possession psychic power but the wierdboy wasn't perfectly possessed.

Anyway I really like how it came out, and didn't take long sinee I abandoned the idea of blending all the highlights on the skin.

I'm good on my Orks and Blood Angels for now, so I'm diving into the Chaos allies for my Ork army.

Converting Dark Vengeance Chosen to Plague Marines

In order to make a normal squad of Plague Marines I need to do some work on a couple of the models. While the bolter and power fist guys are fine as-is, the guy with the axe and the lightning claw guy just wouldn't work.

Also, the guy with the cloak seems to be more of a character then trooper.

So I went with converting the cloak guy into a HQ, with the main idea being a sorcerer with a force axe. I guess he could double as a lord as well.

I took the axe and moved it over to the guy with the cloak, and then gave him an ornate backpack. Perfect, easy.  The guy that had the axe, had his hand chopped off and then I made magnetized plasma/melta options for him.  Also a regular backpack without a bolter attached.

I had to completely cut off the lightning claws, and had to use a tiny bit of greenstuff to fill a gap that came up. Then I gave him a bolt pistol and plague knife (a trimmed down power sword).

So now I have a playable unit of WYSIWYG Plague Marines along with another character to replace the now sold-off Kranon who was painted as Slaanesh.

Not a bad bit of work, very happy with how everything came out.

Holy crap the Mek guns are finally built!!

Tonight I finally finished all the construction on my Mek Guns.  All 6 power packs, all 6 sets of tracktor cannon bits. All of it.

I also finished the rust effects on the chassis.  I need to get some more masking tape before I can get the camo pattern sprayed. I'll also do a little bit of hair spray chipping.

I also picked up a new plastic Painboy. I was worried he would be too weedy, but it turns out to be very substantial especially with the swiss-army hand.

The painboy will be next on the paint queue..probably.

Yet another Mek Gun update...

Holy crap these things are just consuming so much of my time.

However I finally see the light at the end of the construction tunnel. Painting them will go pretty quick, I hope..

All the chassis are primed, the kustom mega-kannons are primed, the smasha guns are primed.  The tractor kannon conversion bits are halfway done, and need to finish the last 2 battery packs.

Got some leadbeltcher down on the chassis and kannons.  Yes, I have 3 actual kannons as well..but will probably never use them.

Control panels on the back of the kustom mega-kannons.

Control panels on the back of the Smasha guns/tracktor kannons.

Tracktor kannon bits in place.

I've spent the better part of every spare hour I've had over the last 2 weeks on these things.  I really want to get them done.  The base coats will probably be on soon, but then I'll have to wait for a day off to grab the airbrush and do the colors.

That's it for now!

More Mek Gun work in progress - tracktor kannons.

These things are turning out to be a lot of work.

Sure, I've finished 5 guns for lobbas but I have not even come close to finishing the energy weapons nor even primed the other 5 chassis.. but that will be done very shortly.

The dollar store toy guns are great for smasha guns, and now I have 5 of them - need 1 more.  However I need to somehow distinguish tracktor kannons from smasha guns.  I have been taking my queues from the stock model and building a set of arms to magnetize on the barrel.

So far, so good. I like how they are coming out.  Just need to come up with a bit to stick on the ends of the arms.

I also came up with an acceptable idea for a power pack, again similar to the stock model that has a battery or whatever off to the side of the gun body.  I simply could not find the bit on ebay so I just did a press mold with instantmold and built a small box. It looks "worky" enough for my taste and will just magnetize on the side of both the smasha guns and the kustom mega-kannons once I make progress on those.  Again, I will need a total of 6 of these..

It's been very tedious work so far. I've gone one good mold to use for the battery pack so I can built at most one a day.  And I'm running out of greenstuff!

But now all the ideas for the energy weapons are in my head,  I'm going to get working on priming and painting the 5 chassis while also working on the Bloodthirster.

That's it for now.

Ork summoned Bloodthirster WiP

Next project up.

In this case, it's a Bloodthirster. Instead of spending a lot on a GW model, I saw this featured in a video by Catattafish and I loved it.

The model is Rauthuros, Deamon by Reaper in the Bones line.

My FLGS just got in some in their last shipment and I was able to pick one up today. It's just $13!

Like all the Bones line it's made from a flexible material which I'm not quite sure what it is..a very cheap form of plastic.  The material makes it not fun to clean mold lines, but other then that they are a SUPER great value. If you are not familiar with the Reaper Bones line, check it out.

Since it is suppose to be summoned by an Ork, I was trying to figure out how to represent that. I could have panted it green but my cousin suggested an Ork head instead of the demon head.  I loved the idea, and went with it.  The head will be painted green and blended into a traditionally Khorne-red Deamon.

I also plan on magnetizing the wings, but that will wait until all the greenstuff is cured.

This will be the next model in the paint queue, once I finish the base..as it turns out I used all my 60mm based on Broadsides.

Trukk #4 finally done!

After a lot of work Trukk #4 is done. My goal was to make it more like a 40's or 50's Ford/Chevy truck

I do mean a lot of work. It was much more work then the cab-over because I had to fit pieces to the GW kit instead of just scratch building.

But after what..2 weeks?  of work it's finally done and I can't be happier. Opening doors, hood and tailgate. Strait sides on the bed.  I love it.

Anyway next project up is more Imperial Fist commission work..namely a Storm Talon.

Trukk #4, teaser 3

As it turns out, this Trukk is taking longer then the cab-over scratch build.

But here is another teaser...

I'm still not even close to done.
